Awka — HADLICEX was an initiative of a Non Governmental Organization Lifebuoy Enlightenment Initiative formerly Youth Project (LIYOP) in collaboration with National Orientation Agency (NOA) Anambra state Directorate in all the secondary schools in Anambra state and Tertiary Institutions in Awka to prepare them for enlightenment of the public against HIV/AIDS.

They partnered with National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) Anambra state and had carried out a screening text. The same examination was going on in 3 local government areas designated for it Onitsha North and Nnewi North at the same time to select the winners for the competition. Only Awka Center had the category A and B, others had only category A.

The representatives of regulating bodies in the state were in attendance at the examination centers. At Awka ,Post Primary school Services Commission was represented by Director Guidance and Counseling Mrs. Lizzy Osisioma and Anambra state Universal Education Board (ASUBED) was represented by the Desk Officer HIV/AIDS Mrs.. Matilda Udeagbara , NOA state Director Sir Jeff Ogbalu was represented by the Desk officer HIV/AIDS NOA / Director Mobilization, Dr Dennis Ekemezie.

Executive Director of Lifebuoy Enlightenment Initiative, Engr. Ikechukwu Odumodu said addressing newsmen shortly after the exam said the organization changed name to suit its mission and agenda against HIV/AIDS. He said the examination was the final stage of the tests as results would be announced in two weeks time. He said they are going National by next year.

He had early said he budgeted the sum of N6 million for creating awareness to the youths at secondary school level on the dangers of drugs and sexual abuse reminding that participating schools that have their candidates emerge tops would take home as first prize winner a laptop, Second prize with N30, 000 and 3rd prize with N20, 000 among other consolation prizes.

He further stated that the category A is for only secondary school students and that of category B for university students and the general public to ensure that the information on sexuality and drugs get to the society adequately because of its numerous dangerous consequences when one is acting on ignorance.
