Kin, Neighbours Turn Their Backs on 15 HIV+ Children

Three locations in 2 years, water shortage are their problems

Their relatives do not want them and neighbours shun them. The only anchor for 15 HIV–afflicted orphans is 62–year–old Asha Shinde, who runs Asha Samajik Pratisthan’s Sweekar residential home in Hinjewadi.

The project which came up in December 2006 currently caters to the children who are between 6 and 13 years of age. They have come from other NGOs or have been sent here by their relatives. The children are from Pandharpur, Tithegaon, Junnar, Atpadi and parts of Pune.
