On the question of fiddling with Section 377 of the IPC, the state government has said a firm “No”. “ Any attempt to change its definition and implications are not acceptable to us,” said a home department official.
The clarification was made in response to a query from the Union government seeking the state government’s view on the issue. The union government is learnt to have issued a circular to state governments seeking their respective views on section 377 IPC.
Earlier, the state government had sought the opinion of the state police chief, director general (DG) Prosecution and the law department on the issue.
