NGO Project Orchid is told by a number of affected health organizations that the organization has not clarified on ‘the core issue of the 100% HIV mandatory testing’ and their official mail on May 11 that "both AVAHAN and NACO have made mandatory that 100% of the HRGs (Core target group) have be tested annually."
The North East India Drug Users‘ Forum, Nagaland Users’ Network, Kohima Users’ Network and Network of Naga People Living with HIV/AIDS said Project Orchid’s rejoinder has not clarified on the stated ‘core issue’. The organization also allegedly requested its partner NGOs to give suggestion to achieve 100% HIV testing. "We also demand AVAHAN and NACO to make their stand clear as to whether they stand by the ORCHID statement or they are abusing your good office’s name to pressurize their NGOs to achieve their selfish objective," the four organizations stated in a joint statement today.
"This issue has been in the e–forum of Asian Network of People who Use Drug (ANPUD, e–group) for quite sometime and AVAHAN and NACO is fully aware of this sensitive and unrealistic agenda, therefore the drug users‘ resents their silence. These Drug Users’ bodies demand Project ORCHID, AVAHAN and NACO to clarify the statement of 100%HIV mandatory testing without giving other justification and confusing/misguiding the common people."
