Luanda - Angola's minister of Family and Woman Promotion, Genoveva Lino, on Monday here considered it important that HIV positive patients analyse deeply matters of gender, so that there can be a success with regard to elimination of discrimination, ANGOP has learnt.
According to her, who was speaking at the opening of a national seminar on home care for people suffering from HIV/AIDS, the commitment declaration on this illness of the UN General Assembly, in its special session of 2001, is clear on matters of gender in relation to HIV/AIDS.
The statement highlighted that gender equality and women’s self-affirmation are fundamental elements in reduction of vulnerability of women and girls suffering from HIV/AIDS.
"We have the right to say that HIV/AIDS, just like domestic violence, is a problem of
imbalance of gender", she said.
The meeting that is to end on April 30, will comprises themes such as Basic Health Care, Legal Support and Human Rights, Stigma and Discrimination, Positive Life, Change of Behaviour, Counselling and Voluntary Testing.
